The webinar was jointly sponsored by Public Citizen, Americans for Financial Reform, and the Our Revolution movement with the express purpose of educating and motivating the public to put pressure on Congress to act now on current Glass-Steagall bills before the House and Senate: Rep. Marcy Kaptur’s H.R. 790 in the House, with 57 cosponsors, and Sen. Elizabeth Warren’s S. 881 in the Senate, with 8 cosponsors.
The event began with statements by H.R. 790 sponsors Kaptur and Rep. Walter Jones (R-NC). They were followed by an expert panel which was comprised of Bart Naylor of Public Citizen; Marcus Stanley of Americans for Financial Reform; author and former manager at Goldman Sachs Nomi Prins; AFL-CIO representative Heather Slavkin Corzo; and Mayo Makinde of Our Revolution NW Ohio.
